Talk Therapy
What is Talk Therapy?
This is an umbrella term for a number of therapy approaches such as counselling, psychotherapy and modalities such as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and mindfulness. Paradigm can deliver therapy on a one-on-one basis or in group settings, in the office, over the phone or maybe on zoom, whatever suits you.
What might happen in a talk therapy session and how might it help me?
A therapy session will start by allowing you to become comfortable with sharing your experiences over the past week since your last session. If you had any issues that you wish to discuss, the therapist will help you to discuss what is bothering you indepthly, discussing how you felt and what you could have done to make this experience easier for you. If you have experienced trauma of any nature, you can feel confident in bringing this to your therapist to talk and explore ways of helping you with that trauma. You may feel like you are a not so nice experience by going back over it with your therapist but your therapist is here to help you develop skills to make the impact of trauma and other challenges easier so that you can feel better and in more control.
In paradigm, your therapist is eager to support you to build strategies tailor made to support you. Some of work might involve doing some mindfulness activities, encouraging effective emotion regulation, putting strategies in place to lessen anxiety and promote greater resilience.

Talk therapy is a proven way to lessen and manage stress, anxiety and many other emotions that are impacting negatively on your life. This type of therapy is suitable for early teenagers, adolescence, adults, seniors and couples.
An example of a way in which therapy can help with anxiety build up. Anxiety can take over when we become very stressed in emotional and physical ways. We might find it more difficult to cope and concentrate on our daily lives, worry might take over. But whatever the presentation of anxiety in your life it is important that we can release anxious feelings so that they don’t build up within us, to disempower us. Talk therapy is a place to release these strong feelings and emotions. In therapy, you are welcome to converse on any topics, difficulties, worries or stressful issues you are experiencing in your life. You will be facilitated into ways you can let go of some of the anxiety linked to the issues. Therapy is a place to explore how you are feeling about yourself, about your life and the people in your life, how you feel about the world and anything else you would like to bring to sessions. Your therapist is a person you can trust to meet you from where you are without any judgement.
